Blood Orange Cardamom Panna Cotta
I made panna cotta! I wanted to do something with blood oranges before they are out of season. Also, I recently purchased some adorable dessert glasses from Pier 1, so it just made sense to go ahead and make panna cotta. The actual panna cotta layer is silky smooth, everything you would want in texture. I decided to add in freshly ground cardamom to compliment the blood orange. Instead of grinding cardamom you can just crack the pods and let it steep in the heated cream. I us

Raspberry Bavarian Entremet
Happy Valentine's Day!! I just decided to make this cake yesterday! I was looking at my heart cake ring that I never used before. My mom found it at a yard sale a year ago, so it's just been sitting in my baking cart. I'm so glad I decided to actually use it! I haven't made an entremet since pastry school! I still have my old recipes and notes from class. The notes were most useful in preparing the ring and layers. I don't have acetate so I sprayed the ring with baking spray

Cheddar & Chive Crackers
I tried my hand at making cheese cracker sandwiches. They are made with cheddar cheese and filled with a chive & cheddar filling. It's been years since I had a cracker sandwich. It's bringing me back to my school days. I would almost always have a little pack of them in my lunchbox. I can almost taste the cream cheese & chive and the malt peanut butter crackers now. I love these cheese & herb crackers because they are awesome for holiday parties and gatherings in general. The

Ghana Flag Cake
I made a cake for my little sister last week. She's studying abroad in Ghana, so before she left we had a little party for her. Can I just say the food was great. We had a lot of southern staples, macaroni & cheese, dressing (stuffing), collard greens, sweet potato souffle and turnips. At first I was pretty skeptical, I don't like eating heavy soul food in the summer. It's too hot! But, it was delicious and I can not wait for Thanksgiving! I made a three layer 6'' cake. I was

Peach Cobbler
Hey y'all! I made a delicious peach cobbler. My mom was talking about how she hasn't had a good peach cobbler in years. She use to get one almost everyday when we still had Piccadilly's nearby. Does anyone else remember that place? Is it still around? Well anyway, story is during her lunch hours at work she would always grab peach cobbler with her meal. Being a southern girl and from the peach state, Georgia. I was up for the occasion. I knew the first requirements.... Fresh

Fresh Fruit Tart
I know it's not officially summer yet, but to me it's been here already. I been wearing my sandals and shorts since late March. Living in Georgia, the heat can be very intense some days. I am thankful that I now have air conditioning in my car. Last summer, I was stuck in my hot car in rush-hour traffic every day for hours. Now, I can roll up the windows, turn on my air and cruise. You guys have no idea how happy I am! Anywho, when I think of summer. I think of fresh fruit.
