Chunky Crochet Cowl

I made a chunky crochet cowl! This is my second crochet project! I think I am getting the hang of it, of course there are are more stitches I need to learn. In this project, I got to learn how to double crochet. At first, I didn't think I was ever going to get the hang of it... but it's actually simple once you start.

I found this pattern through pinterest of course! The yarn I used is Lion's Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in the color Blossom (weight super bulky, 6). For my crochet hook, I used a US N-15, 10mm plastic hook! I'm not sure how I feel about plastic hooks yet...

I have a shopping rack in my backyard. Essential

The hardest part for me is that I found myself, double crocheting twice in the same ch space. It's funny I was wondering why it wasn't even and growing in width! The bottom half is the same size and then it just increases by an inch and bit. Oh dear. I didn't even realize until I was working with the second skein. Next time, I will be counting my double crochets every couple of rows! Lesson learned!

I do love how chunky & soft it is, and it didn't take long to finish! Awesome! I'll be working on a second cowl in a darker berry color. Then..it's off to try treble stitch!

I plan on wearing my cowl this winter/fall with a vegan leather jacket and knee high boots! I don't have either at the moment, so I might have to plan a shopping outing soon. In the photos, I'm wearing a cute berry free people tank top. I bought it during my shopping trip in Providence. The jacket is a reason purchase from my local thrift store, it's a perfect "boyfriend" fitted jacket.

I love how freaking long the cowl is. I can wear it in numerous ways! I can wrap it into a hooded scarf or decide to wear it as a shawl instead. Perfect. I even had it wrapped around like a loose dress, of course I'll need a slip dress underneath.

What do you guys think? Want a link to the pattern? Let me know.
